We are thrilled to welcome Michele Feris to the Sonny’s Spaw family. She starts April 1st and Sharon and I are verrry happy to have another groomer on board.
Meet Michele:
“I am from Everett, WA. I have a fiance and a sweet Blue pitty named Louis (pronounced lou-ee). I have been grooming dogs going on two years, I was a bather for several years before that. I was asked to come bathe for a friend’s shop and I fell in love with the environment and working with dogs all day. Becoming a groomer was the promotion I worked hard for, learning as much as I could to achieve my goal. I am also certified in dog and cat CPR and first aid.
My favorite dog I’ve ever groomed is a Newfoundland named Otis. He is one of the biggest newfie’s I’ve ever seen. He is older and has hip problems, so we have to go really slow and take lots of breaks. He is well-mannered but doesn’t like to stand up for too long. Awhile back I was going through a very difficult time in my life and although being around SO much cuteness at work all day was helpful, some days were still hard no matter what. It was one of those hard days and I was bathing Otis, aka Oaty 🙂 I had uncontrollable tears running down my face and he was at the point where he didn’t want to stand up anymore. He looked over at me, saw my tears, stood up all on his own, reached over and kissed my whole face over and over until my tears were gone. In that moment, I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Another reason I chose grooming is for all the educational opportunities that come along with it. I have always loved dogs, but I never realized there is much more to them besides ‘eat, play, potty, and sleep’! I am beyond blessed and excited to be able to come and continue learning and perfecting my skills with Mary at Sonny’s Spaw.”
